Story
On the Gold Coast, an estimated 200 women aged 55 and older are experiencing homelessness or “hidden homelessness”, sleeping in cars, couch surfing or living in vans.
These women are part of our community, yet their struggles can easily go unseen. I’m taking part in The Forgotten Women’s Live Like Her Challenge to help raise awareness and funds so that all Queenslanders will have access to safe, secure housing and the support they deserve.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help make a difference. Thank you for supporting me and this incredibly important cause.
The Forgotten Women
The Forgotten Women is Mangrove Community Homes' flagship project, a unique, grassroots housing initiative dedicated to women over 55 experiencing homelessness - the fastest growing cohort in Australia today. The Forgotten Women's mission is simple: to put a safe roof over the heads of as many vulnerable older women as possible. Through the acquisition of suitable properties, the project provides secure, safe, affordable housing that enables older women to age in place with security, stability and dignity.
